Bungee is the purest commitment test in adventure sports: stand on a platform, hear a countdown, and choose to step off. Here's where to do it near Ontario and how it compares to the jump above all jumps.
Where to bungee
Great Canadian Bungee — the big one
Morrison's Quarry near Wakefield, QC (about 5.5 hrs from Toronto, 45 min past Ottawa) hosts Canada's highest jump: 200 feet over a spring-fed lagoon, with optional water touches. Roughly $150 per jump. It's the country's definitive bungee.
WildPlay Niagara — the closer option
A 40-ft "What's To Fear" jump over the Niagara Gorge — smaller, but the setting carries it. Around $35–$50.
What it feels like
Five seconds of pure surrender, then the rebound. The hard part isn't the fall — it's the step. Bungee front-loads all its fear into the moment before you commit. Intensity 8/10, compressed into seconds.
Bungee vs skydiving
- The step: bungee makes YOU jump alone · on a tandem skydive your instructor leads the exit — most people find it dramatically easier to commit
- Freefall: ~2 seconds vs ~40 seconds at 120 mph
- What's next: bungee ends at the rebound · skydiving follows freefall with a five-minute canopy flight over the escarpment
- Price: ~$150 vs from $359 — with 20× the airtime
The natural progression
Almost every jumper we meet who's done both says the same thing: bungee was scarier, skydiving was better. If you've conquered the platform, the aircraft door is your next step — see the full Ontario adrenaline bucket list.
