Skydiving vs. CN Tower EdgeWalk: Toronto's Thrill Showdown

One puts you on a ledge 1,168 feet up. The other drops you from 11,000. An honest comparison of Toronto's two biggest adrenaline buys.

Toronto has two ways to scare yourself on purpose: walk the edge of the CN Tower, or jump out of a plane 30 minutes west of it. Here's an honest comparison from people who've done both.

The EdgeWalk

The CN Tower's EdgeWalk puts you on a 1.5-metre ledge, 356 metres above downtown, harnessed to an overhead rail. You lean out over the edge, hands free, for about 30 minutes. It's a genuine thrill — controlled, guided, and squarely in the "scary but safe-feeling" category. Around $195–225 per person.

The skydive

A tandem skydive exits at up to 11,000 feet — roughly nine CN Towers stacked on top of each other. You freefall at 120 mph for up to 40 seconds, then ride the canopy for five minutes over the Niagara Escarpment with Lake Ontario and that same Toronto skyline in view. From $359.

How they compare

  • Height: EdgeWalk 1,168 ft · Skydive 11,000 ft
  • Duration of thrill: EdgeWalk ~30 min of edge time · Skydive ~40 sec freefall + 5 min canopy
  • Intensity: EdgeWalk is sustained nerves; freefall is a single overwhelming rush most people call the best moment of their life
  • Price: comparable — roughly $200 vs $359
  • Bragging rights: one of these ends with "I jumped out of a plane"

Do both — but in this order

Plenty of people do the EdgeWalk as a warm-up and the skydive as the main event. If you're building a Toronto thrill bucket list, the tower is the appetizer. The skydive near Toronto is the entrée.
